CHARLOTTE – Tonight, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close the right lane on Interstate 85 South as part of a $15.3 million contract to improve approximately seven miles of the highway between exits 36 and 42.
The lane closure is needed for crews to safely mark areas to replace patches and resurface, starting at mile marker 42, continuing south to mile marker 36. The closure will be in place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Drivers should expect seeing lane closures in this area each night through November, as the contractor continues working on I-85 North, then performing the same work on I-85 South. All work is weather permitting and subject to change.
