WINSTON-SALEM – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will be closing ramps and lanes tonight as part of the ongoing Interstate 40 pavement rehabilitation and bridge preservation project in Forsyth County.
The following closures are anticipated to close tonight and open by 6 a.m. Friday:
• 2 of 3 lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 west from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am the following morning from west of U.S.-52 (MM 193.0) to west of Peters Creek Parkway (MM 191.0).
• 2 of 3 lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 east from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning from west of Peters Creek Parkway (MM 191.0) to west of US-52 (MM 193.0).
• 2 of 3 lanes are scheduled to be closed on Peters Creek Parkway in the southbound direction, the closure will be located on the Peters Creek bridge that crosses over I-40. The closure is tentatively scheduled to be in place beginning at 9 p.m. and will be removed no later than 6 a.m. the following morning.
• 2 of 4 lanes are scheduled to be closed on Stratford Road in the northbound direction, the closure will be located on the Stratford Road bridge that crosses over I-40. The closure is tentatively scheduled to be in place beginning at 9 p.m. and will be removed no later than 6 a.m. the following morning.
• 1 of 2 lanes are scheduled to be closed on Hanes Mall Boulevard in the southbound direction, the closure will be located where I-40 crosses over Hanes Mall Boulevard. The closure is tentatively scheduled to be in place beginning at 9 p.m. and will be removed no later than 6 a.m. the following morning.
• The ramps from Peters Creek Parkway to I-40 east and I-40 west are scheduled to be closed simultaneously beginning at 9 p.m. and will be reopened no later than 6 a.m. the following morning. A signed detour will be in place directing traffic Silas Creek Parkway to return to I-40 east and Silas Creek Parkway, I-40 east and U.S.-52 to return to I-40 west.
