CHAPEL HILL – Lane sections along Interstate 40 and other area roads are scheduled to be closed over the weekend while crews inspect storm drains.
From 9 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday, crews plan to close the left lane of I-40 East from mile marker 269 to 270 (U.S. 15-501).
From 6-9 a.m. Saturday, one lane in each direction of N.C. 86 is set to close near the Eubanks Road intersection.
From 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, crews plan to close a lane in each direction of Old N.C. 86 near the I-40 interchange.
Drivers approaching these areas at these times should be on the lookout for the crews, who will be working close to the travel lanes.
These closures are part of the preliminary work on the project to widen I-40 to six lanes and modify interchanges in Orange County.
