RALEIGH — A pair of Wade Avenue ramps are scheduled to close beginning Friday night as part of the Interstate 440 Improvements project.
The loop from eastbound Wade Avenue to I-440 East will close at 9 p.m. Friday to allow crews to complete construction of a temporary loop to be used for the next 13 months while the new flyover bridge for westbound Wade Avenue over I-440 is built. The temporary loop is expected to be open by 8 p.m. Tuesday.
During this closure, drivers will follow a detour to Faircloth and Hillsborough streets to access I-440 East.
The ramp from I-440 East to Wade Avenue (Exit 4) will also close from 5 a.m. Monday until 8 p.m. Tuesday for the same purpose.
Drivers will be detoured to Lake Boone Trail (Exit 5) to turn around and take I-440 West to Wade Avenue west (Exit 4B) to Blue Ridge Road to turn around and access eastbound Wade Avenue.
Motorists should allow extra time to navigate the detours and slow down and pay attention throughout the work zone.
