Busy Week Ahead for I-40 Rehab Project

WINSTON-SALEM – The project to improve the roadway and bridges along Interstate 40 in Forsyth County has a full schedule next week.

Weather permitting, lane or ramp closures will take place between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. starting on the following days:

July 11-13: Two of three lanes of I-40 West from west of Peter's Creek Parkway (mile marker 191) to just west of Stratford Road (mile marker 189), and the ramp from I-40 West to Peter's Creek Parkway (Exit 192). A signed detour for the ramp closure will have drivers continue on I-40 West to turn around at the Hanes Mall Boulevard exit to access Peter's Creek Parkway.

July 14-15: Two of three lanes of I-40 West from east of Peter's Creek Parkway (mile marker 192) to just west of Stratford Road (mile marker 189), and the ramp from Stratford Road onto I-40 West. A signed detour for the ramp closure will follow N.C. 67 and U.S. 421/Salem Parkway back to the interstate.

The following lane or ramp closures will take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m:

July 13-14: One of two lanes will be closed on the Stratford Road bridge over I-40 for traffic headed south toward Hanes Mall Boulevard.

July 15: One of two lanes will be closed on N.C. 66 bridge that crosses over I-40 for traffic traveling north.

Drivers should be cautious as crews will be working near the flow of traffic in these areas and factor the detour into their commutes.
