CHAPEL HILL — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to close a segment of Old Durham Road on Monday, May 24 for utility work.
At 7 a.m. Monday, the road will be closed between Scarlet Drive and the roundabout to Wegmans for up to one week as crews remove an old water line.
The detour will use U.S. 15-501 and East Lakeview Drive to get around the closure.
Drivers should allow extra time for the detour and pay extra attention while driving near the work zone.
This work is part of the project to add bicycle lanes, crosswalks and sidewalks to Old Durham/Old Chapel Hill Road between U.S. 15-501 and Pope Road.
