DANBURY – A portion of a Stokes County highway that was damaged during a heavy rain event will be repaired starting this week.
N.C. Department of Transportation Maintenance crews plan to close N.C. 89 near its split from N.C. 8, west of Danbury, at 7 a.m. Wednesday. The repair to the subgrade and road surface is expected to take a couple weeks, weather permitting.
Until the repair is complete, traffic will be detoured along N.C. 8 and Piney Grove Church Road to access points on either side of the closure.
Drivers should watch out for crews at work in this area and allow extra time for the detour.
