This Week at NCDOT: Company Invests at Global TransPark and Preparing for 2020 NC Transportation Summit

RALEIGH – The following are highlights from this week at the N.C. Department of Transportation. The stories below are also featured in NCDOT Now, the department's weekly newscast.

Aircraft Solutions USA, Inc. Investing in NC

An aircraft recycling company is investing nearly $100 million and creating 475 jobs in Lenoir County.

Aircraft Solutions will establish a new branch at North Carolina’s Global TransPark to recycle aircraft parts and materials. The company serves commercial and military clients with aircrafts that are ready to be decommissioned. Despite an aircraft’s age, there are often many valuable parts that can be recycled, like engines, undercarriage equipment and in-flight entertainment systems.

Governor Roy Cooper says this addition will "add to the growing relevance of the Global TransPark."

Preparing for 2020 NC Transportation Summit

We are less than a week away from the 2020 NC Transportation Summit.

NCDOT and NC Go! are gearing up for the Summit, which will be held Jan. 8 - 9 at the Raleigh Convention Center. The event theme is "Moving From Vision to Reality at the Speed of Change."

Speakers and exhibitors are coming from as far as Australia.

Now in its second year, the Summit, which is self-supported, will bring thought leaders together to explore how North Carolina should prepare for major changes coming to the transportation industry.
