New North Wilkesboro Project Plans Available at Public Meeting

NORTH WILKESBORO — A proposed project in North Wilkesboro would enhance safety and mobility along a three-mile stretch of N.C. 115 between U.S. 421 and a bridge over the Yadkin River.

The project would widen N.C. 115 from two to three lanes with a median. Preliminary plans include four roundabouts to increase safety by redirecting left turns, improved access to an elementary school, and new sidewalk from the Yadkin River bridge to the intersection of Armory Road to improve pedestrian safety.

The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on the project from 4-7 p.m. at the NCDOT Division 11 office, 801 Statesville Road, on July 9.

New maps will be displayed at the meeting to show revisions to the proposed design made as a result of public comments and input at public meeting held in November.

Maps and additional information will also be posted on the NCDOT public meeting website as they become available.  All comments will be considered as the project plans develop and should be submitted by July 23.
