Troy Bypass Requires Temporary Road Closure

TROY – Work on the Troy Bypass will result in a five-week closure of a section of Pekin Road in Montgomery County.

J.T. Russell & Sons Inc. has been contracted by the N.C. Department of Transportation to construct a new traffic pattern at the intersection of Pekin Road for the Troy Bypass. Pekin Road will close where it intersects the bypass beginning Wednesday through early July.

Traffic will be detoured onto Saunders Road and N.C. 24/27 (Albemarle Road).

Drivers should anticipate a longer commute and use caution traveling through the work zone.

Construction on the entire 6.6-mile bypass began after the department awarded a $45 million contract in late 2014. The bypass is expected to open by the fall.
