TROUTMAN – The N.C. Department of Transportation welcomes the public’s input on a proposed project to widen about 1.7 miles of U.S. 21 (North Main Street) between Cedar Lane in Troutman and Barium Lane in Barium Springs. The project also proposes to reconfigure the existing U.S. 21 intersections at Wagner and Church Streets.
According to the 2017 U.S. 21/N.C. 115 Corridor Mobility Strategy, regional growth has heavily impacted the transportation network in southern Iredell County. This section of U.S. 21 through Troutman is consistently reported as one of the most congested commuter routes in the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization’s urbanized area. The proposed project would address current and future traffic needs of the corridor.
A public meeting will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2 at Troutman Town Hall, 400 N. Eastway Drive. The public may attend the meeting at any time to meet with NCDOT representatives and submit comments, as no formal presentation will be made.
Comments can also be submitted by phone, email or mail through May 16 All comments will be considered as the project develops.
