WINSTON-SALEM – A portion of Academy Street in Winston-Salem will close on Saturday, April 27.
From 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Academy Street will close on the east side of Peters Creek Parkway, between the parkway and Granville Drive.
Crews will be working on a sewer line at the intersection as part of the Business 40 Improvement Project.
The configuration of Academy Street at the traffic light will be changing.
A new turn lane is being added from westbound Academy Street onto southbound Peters Creek Parkway. With the additional lane, westbound Academy Street traffic will have a dedicated left turn lane, through lane, and dedicated right turn lane. Currently the through traffic and right turn traffic share the same lane.
NCDOT has established the following detours:
- Westbound traffic on Academy Street will use Granville Drive, Montgomery Street SW, Hutton Street, Link Road and Peters Creek Parkway.
- Eastbound traffic on Academy Street will use Peters Creek Parkway, Bank Street SW and Granville Drive.
