ASHEBORO – Drivers are urged to watch out for a work crew that will be collecting pavement and soil samples overnight this week along N.C. 42 in Asheboro.
A geotechnical firm contracted by the N.C. Department of Transportation plans to perform pavement sampling from 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 to 6 a.m. the following morning. The sampling is part of a project to widen N.C. 42 between U.S. 64/N.C. 49 (Dixie Drive) and East Salisbury Street and improve the function of the intersection of N.C. 42 and East Salisbury Street.
The work will take place on N.C. 42 between East Salisbury Street and U.S. 64/N.C. 49; East Salisbury Street between N.C. 42 and Dublin Square Road; and Dublin Square Road between East Salisbury Street and N.C. 42.
A traffic control unit will be on site during the work, but drivers should still slow down and use caution near the work zone.
