FAYETTEVILLE – CSX Corp. has informed the N.C. Department of Transportation the company needs to temporarily close eight roads in the Fayetteville area this month for routine track maintenance.
The following is the list of affected state-maintained roads and the tentative closure dates, as weather conditions and contractor schedules allow:
- Gillespie Street and Dick Street downtown: Sunday, March 10
- Russell Street between C Street and Eastern Boulevard downtown: March 11
- Joy Drive near Clinton Road: March 14
- Sunnyside School Road between John B. Carter and Clinton roads: March 14
- Sids Mill Road near Old Vander Road: March 15
- Macedonia Church Road near Seabrook School Road: March 15
- Cedar Creek Road close to N.C. 210: March 15
Each closing will last two to five days, and detour signs will be placed to direct drivers around the closure. Because the closure dates are subject to change, motorists should be aware these areas may have detours unexpectedly.
