NCDMV Working to Shorten Wait Times

The new north Charlotte DMV office is the largest in the state with 15 work stations to help service customers quickly.

As the summer peak season begins, the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is implementing several improvements to shorten wait times and improve customer service.

To make it easier for people to get the services they need, several DMV offices have extended their hours in areas like Anson, Alamance, Mecklenburg and Wake counties.

DMV is working to improve customer service with more examiners, express lines, dedicated road test teams and the use of customer service representatives to help people in line make sure they have the appropriate documents.

Fifteen new driver license examiner graduates recently began working at 10 office across the state.

In addition, North Carolina’s newest and largest driver license office is open in north Charlotte. The office is located at 9711 David Taylor Drive. The office, the state’s largest with 15 work stations, opened in March to prepare for the summer rush.  It’s open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday.

The office is equipped to help people get or renew driver licenses, learners permits, REAL IDs and basic identification cards. Examiners at the office also conduct road tests for new drivers.

Remember you skip the line by going online for services like renewing a driver license or vehicle registration, paying property taxes and ordering duplicate licenses or ID cards.
