JACKSONVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation is in the process of improving an Onslow County intersection, which includes installing a drainage pipe this weekend.
On Jan. 26 and 27, crews will install the drainage pipe under U.S. 17 South at the intersection of Drummer Kellum Road and Wolf Swamp Road northeast of Jacksonville. During these two days, there will be intermittent lane closures, with at least one lane always remaining open.
Most work will occur during the day, but it’s possible crews will be working at night, too. Drivers should plan on needing extra time to travel through the area and slow down while crews are at work.
This pipe installation is part of a larger project in which NCDOT is improving the intersection by reducing left turns to curtail the number of crashes in the area.
