Contracts Awarded for Resurfacing Work in Davidson, Rowan Counties

RALEIGH – Contracts have been awarded to resurface 54 miles of roadways in Davidson County, including part of Business 85, and nearly 26 miles of Rowan County roads, including a section of U.S. 52.

J.T. Russell and Sons Inc. entered the lowest bids for both projects, $12.1 million for the Davidson County work and $5.75 million for the Rowan County resurfacing. Both bids were about a half-million dollars under the projected budgets.

Other roads included in the Davidson County project include N.C. 47, N.C. 62 and two sections of N.C. 109.

Work in both counties could begin as early as March. The Rowan County work should be complete by the summer of 2020, and the Davidson County project by the fall of 2020.

These are among 10 highway, bridge and ferry projects worth $69.5 million recently awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation. As required by state law, the contracts went to the lowest qualified bidder.
