Lexington - N.C. Department of
Transportation contractors will begin work next week replacing the Fred Miller
Road bridge over Flat Swamp Creek east of Lexington. The work will require a
three-month closure for a portion of the roadway between New Cut Road and Old
Highway 109.
The original bridge built in 1963 no
longer meets the demands of the traffic using it.
The
closure will be in place from Monday, April 16, until work is complete by
Friday, July 20.
Motorists will be able to use New
Cut Road, East Old U.S. Highway 64 and Old Highway 109 to detour around the closure.
NCDOT
reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and
obey the posted speed limit.
