Patrick Woodie is president of the North Carolina Rural Center.
Since being named president in 2013, Woodie has led the organization through a major transition, repositioning it into a new era of work and community engagement but still focused on the singular mission to serve the people and places of rural North Carolina.
Prior to being president, he served as the Rural Center’s Vice President of Programs (2006 to 2013) and on the organization’s Board of Directors from 1997 to 2000.
Woodie previously served as executive director of the Alleghany County Chamber of Commerce (1992 to 1999), executive director of New River Community Partners (1999 to 2006) and executive director of the Blue Ridge Business Development Center (2003 to 2006).
In 2000, Woodie was elected to the Alleghany County Board of Commissioners.
He graduated from Wake Forest University in 1987 and from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1990.
