RALEIGH – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will begin resurfacing McDowell and Dawson streets in downtown Raleigh, aiming to provide a smoother ride for drivers. This work will require overnight lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and is expected to be complete in mid-October, weather permitting.
Starting Sunday at 9 p.m., crews will begin milling and paving intersections and turn lanes. They will then proceed to mill and resurface a lane at at time in a circular pattern around McDowell and Dawson streets in downtown Raleigh.
Curb improvements along both streets will occur during daytime hours.
Transportation officials remind drivers to plan ahead, remain alert and obey all posted traffic signals.
