MURFREESBORO - The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded Rutherford County Airport a $1.24 million grant for safety improvements.
This grant will help the airport replace outdated lights, signage and navigational aids and new LED equipment will be installed.
Rutherford County Airport is one of North Carolina's 72 public airports and supports 85 employments locally, generates an annual economic effect of $13.7 million, and pays $746,000 in state and local taxes.
