Wolfe-Moser House into Bethania's Visitor's Center
The relocation and restoration of the Wolfe-Moser House into Bethania's Visitor's Center has provided a central location to learn the history of the town. The visitor's center is an object of pride for this National Landmark Moravian community and it is expected to generate a significant number of tourists who will learn the local history through diverse educational opportunities and tours.
The barrier islands and sandy shoals of coastal North Carolina have been the site of countless shipwrecks over the last several hundred years. For that reason, the United States government built lighthouses to warn mariners and lifesaving stations to assist those in danger. The Chicamacomico Lifesaving station complex was constructed between 1874 and 1911. Enhancement funds have moved the original buildings inland to preserve them for future generations and rehabilitated several early boathouses.
