The Project Archive System was first created when many Units stored their
information on the Roadway server. When a project was Let for construction, Roadway would wait a while
before transferring it via the "old" Archive System. This system would then move it to a reel
tape and remove the files off of Roadways server.
TIP information is now stored on a central server (Dfsroot01 or the "R: drive").
To have a project archived, please check with all other Units first to make sure they are also ready to archive
this project.
All internal Roadway users may request restore from archives using
the
Restore From Archive Form. Please note that when a project was archived "back then", anytime
a user requested a restore, they got a copy of the files. If they made changes to any files,
and sent it back to archive, there would now be two different copies of this project.
In some cases, especially if it went to
a private engineering firm, there could be three (3) or four (4) different versions for a
particular TIP.
For a list of all projects that have been stored thru Roadway Design or
Engineering Coordination, please view this spreadsheet.
