How to Apply
Applicants must submit the HBCU/MSI Scholarship Program Application along with the following supporting documentation:
- Unofficial university transcript
- Resume
- One letter of recommendation
For
spring 2025, each student will be able to apply for a
$2,500 scholarship to use toward their school-related financial needs. Application deadline is midnight, Nov. 22.
*If you accept the scholarship, you will be required to record a "thank you" video.

The Office of Historically Black Colleges and Universities Outreach Scholarship Program at the N.C. Department of Transportation helps foster new and diverse transportation professionals.
Scholarships support students of HBCU and minority serving institutions pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees in transportation-related fields at one of North Carolina’s HBCU/MSI.
This program provides financial assistance each academic year to help cover costs for highly motivated future transportation professionals and leaders.

Eligibility Requirements
- U.S. citizen and a resident of North Carolina
- Completed at least 24 credit hours at a North Carolina HBCU/MSI
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student at a North Carolina HBCU/MSI
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
