James Forte oversees daily operations for the Division of Motor Vehicles, including oversight of driver license and identification card production, vehicle registration and titling, dealer records, towing, odometer fraud and safety and emissions inspections.
Forte has more than 25 years of experience in North Carolina state government, serving previously Assistant Commissioner of DMV. While at DMV, Forte developed and coordinated the division’s Total Quality Management Initiative, Quality Goes Public, to improve internal operations and customer service as well as streamline work processes. The initiative was expanded throughout other state agencies. Forte has a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Fayetteville State University.
